Thomas George Hamer

Thomas George Hamer, 74, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at his residence. Born November 7, 1944, he was the son of the late William Spencer and Nancy Belle Hamer. He was a farmer and attended First Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church officiated by Reverend William S. Evans III with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 31st beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Miriam Hamer; his daughter, Mary Katherine Clowney (Scott) of Bartlett; his son, Thomas “Tom” Spencer Hamer (Sarah) of Memphis; and six grandchildren, Margaret Hamer, Elizabeth Long, Will Long, Anna Clowney, Emma Clowney and Jonathan Clowney.

Mike Harris, Dale Milner, Gerald Brandon, Jeff Bradley, Wade Harrison and King Rogers will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Miles Shatzer, Quinton Little, Dr. J.B. Cochran, Dr. John Maddox, Spencer Hamer and Robert Klages.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Hamer Andrews and his brother, W.S. Hamer, Jr.

The family requests memorials be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 1005 Highway 51 Bypass, Dyersburg, TN 38024.
