Roger Dale Shirley

Roger Dale Shirley, a lifelong resident of Ridgely, died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 20, 2022. 

Memorial visitation for Mr. Shirley will be 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Thursday, March 31, 2022 at the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with services to follow at 5:00 pm. 

He is survived by his daughter, Brooke Shirley Jones (Jacob) and his sister Mary Frances Dial of Ridgely. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arron Jr. and Flossie Shirley and his brother, Donald Shirley. 

Roger graduated from Bethel University with a degree in Criminal Justice and proudly worked as the Lake County Juvenile Officer for 17 years. While in this position, he also served as an Addiction Counselor at Here’s Hope Counseling for Dyersburg and Lake County.  In these positions he made a difference in many lives and served countless hours in the local drug courts, teen court and recovery communities. 

When not focused on his work, Roger could be found with his daughter helping her renovate her new home or aggravating his beloved courthouse family. 

The loss of Roger will be felt through the entire county. Please attend a memorial service celebrating his life and legacy at Curry Funeral Home in Ridgely.  Time and date to be announced at a later date.
