Miriam Drake

Miriam Clark Locklear Drake, 77, of Sugar Hill, GA passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023, surrounded by her three children.  Miriam was born on October 16, 1945, in Dyersburg, TN and was the youngest daughter to Miriam and OB Locklear.

Miriam graduated with a Bachelors in Science from Lambuth College and a Masters in Counseling from the University of Memphis.  She went on to have a long career as a pioneering mental health professional throughout Tennessee and Alabama.

She loved reading, gardening, traveling and, most of all, being with her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and brought joy to those who knew her.  She was a beloved and generous mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, and will be sorely missed.  

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Clark Benedetti, her daughter's husband Frank and their three children, Brooke, Brenna and Brody; her son, Robert Drake, his wife Thuy and their two sons, Jason and Steven; and her son, Thomas Drake, as well as her dear nieces, nephew and cousin.

Service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Reverend Bill Evans.
