James Mahlon Greene

James Mahlon Greene, 88, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Trenton Health & Rehabilitation.  Born May 4, 1934, he is the son of the late Jay and Hester Agee Greene.  He was retired after 29 years as a State Trooper. Mahlon was a retired basketball referee of 30 years, retired City of Trenton Judge, former manager of Pine Crest County Club in Dyer, TN.  He owned and ran several convenience stores in Dyer and Gibson Counties.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2023 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Duncan Ing with interment to follow in Bellevernon Cemetery in Friendship.

Jeff Greene, Kent Greene, Gunnar Ing, Joey Ing, Jay Morris and Chris Beaver will be serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 30^th beginning at 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

He is survived by his son Jeff Greene (Patti); his grandson Kent Greene (Megan), his great-grandson Guy Reader Greene, and Jeanette Greene, all of Dyersburg; his great-niece Traci Ing (Joey) great-great-nephews, Duncan and Gunnar Ing, all of Arlington; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Steve Greene; one sister, Marjorie Greene Bates and husband Lester; and three brothers, Harold Greene, B.M. Greene and Gerald Greene.
