Laura Nell Allen

Laura Nell Allen, 90, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at her residence. Born December 20, 1933, she is the daughter of the late Charlie and Lillian Jimmerson Vaughn. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she taught Children’s Sunday School class for many years, and later attended Three Oaks Baptist Church. Laura Nell, along with her husband, were co-owners of D’s Nursery. With her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, “Booboo” enjoyed camping and activities with FFA and 4H, showing livestock since 1979. 

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Brother Bill Phipps with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery. 

The family will receive visitors Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. 

David Thedford, John Howard, Brad Lewis, Tim Rodgers, Trey Smith and Cody Rodgers will serve as pallbearers. 

She is survived by her three sons, David Allen (Cindy) of Dyersburg, Kenny Allen (Donna) of Sikeston, MO; Dennis Allen of Dyersburg; seven grandchildren, Kelli Allen, Julie Thedford (David), Jamie Rodgers (Tim), Brad Lewis (Mitzi), John Allen, Laura Howard (John), Austin Allen (Crystal); fourteen great-grandchildren, Mason Allen, Marlee and Ty Thedford, Cody (Tori) Rodgers, Trey Smith, Kennedy Allen, Gaige and Gannon Lewis, Jack, George and Vivian Howard, Gage and Preston Baucom and Jacie Allen and one great-great-grandchild, Sam Rodgers. 

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, David E. Allen (08/23/2019). 

The family requests memorials be directed to Dyer County 4-H, 151 Ewell Avenue, Dyersburg, TN 38024.
