John Dial, 75, of Ridgely, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 3, 2022 at his residence with his loving wife at his side. He was the son of the late Joel and Cora Roberson Dial. Mr. Dial proudly served his country in the United States Army stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Ridgely First Baptist Church where he was Chairman of the Deacons and taught Sunday School. He was an ordained minister in Virginia. John was inordinately proud of his four grandchildren. He was an avid gardener, poet and short story writer. He enjoyed traveling, particularly during the Christmas season to see Christmas light displays. One of his proudest moments was officiating the wedding ceremony of his grandson Seth and bride Chelsea in August 2021. He previously served as the local Lake County historian and had an amusing anecdote for all life’s past and future events. His tales and never-ending Dad jokes will be missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022 in the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Reverend Mickey Hanks. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery. Andrew Becker, Benjamin Becker, Seth Becker, Danny Goodman, Jr., Jerry Mealer and Grant Montgomery will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive visitors Saturday, January 8th beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the service begins at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances Dial; one daughter, Terri Dial Becker (Andrew) of Sanford, NC; one son, John C. Dial (Hope) of Benton, AR; four grandchildren, Benjamin Becker (Rachel Parfenchuk), Seth Becker (Chelsea), KarLee Becker, Chyna Long (Kody); three sisters, Lucy Autry, Norma Dannatell, both of Cocoa Beach, FL, Barbara Bucklin (Robert), of Raleigh, NC; and two brothers, Danny Dial (Linda) of Dyersburg and James Dial of Ridgely.
