John Lucas Wells, III

John Lucas Wells, III, 84, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Dyersburg, died Saturday, July 22, 2023 in Kansas City, MO.  Born January 30, 1939 in Dyersburg, he is the son of the late J.L. and Ruth Vincent Wells.  He was retired from Defense Mapping as a cartographer, after 34 years of employment.  He was a 1957 graduate of Dyersburg High School and a graduate of The University of Tennessee at Martin.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery officiated by Reverend Mike Hickman.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 27th beginning at 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Steve Wells, Olivia Wansing, Kevin Wansing, Jimmy Wells, Ricky Phillips and Brad Studdard will be serving as pallbearers.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Paulette Styers Wells; two children, John Stephen Wells, Leslie Wansing (Kevin); two grandchildren, Olivia Wansing, Troy Wansing; brother James Vincent Wells (Mary Kay); and nieces and nephews, Tracy Wells Myers, Dawn Wells Priest and Ricky Phillips.
