Jere Ozment

Dyersburg

 

Jere Ozment, 93, of Dyersburg, died peacefully Thursday, December 28, 2023 at his residence.  Born January 5, 1930, he is the son of the late James Hubert Sr. and Claude Bowers Ozment.  Jere was the retired owner of Ozment Implement John Deere Tractor Company. He was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church, a member of Dyersburg Noon Rotary, was active with fundraising for Boy Scouts and was an avid hunter in his younger days.  Jere was fondly known as a “Sewing Circle” husband. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church officiated by Dr. Phillip Cook and Dr. Mary Beth Bernheisel with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery. 

 

The family will receive friends Tuesday beginning at 12 Noon until service time at the church.   

 

Nate Brock, Kyle Brock, Jimmy Hester, Walt Bradshaw, Pierce White and Nathan Newsom will be serving as pallbearers.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Julia Ozment Smith (Jim) of Dyersburg; two sons, Alex Ozment (Nelda) of Bartlett, Tim Ozment of Oklahoma City, OK; one granddaughter, Mary Alice Bradshaw (Spencer); one great-granddaughter, Rosemary Grace Bradshaw; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Becky Ozment; his grandson, John Ozment; two sisters, Doris Ozment Avison, Gloria Jane Ozment Magruder; and two brothers, James Hubert Ozment, Jr. and William F. Ozment, Sr.

His children would like to thank his sitters, Patricia Edwards and Ed Presley for their love, kindness and compassion to their Dad and to them during his last month.
