Janie Simpson, 80, of Finley, died Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at West Tennessee Healthcare – Dyersburg Hospital. Born May 28, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Pollard and Lilly Mae Parmenter Burns. She was a produce farmer and sold her vegetables at the Methodist Church parking lot and Reelfoot Lake Flea Market.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2019 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Brother Mac Daniels with interment to follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 9th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Cecil Dewitt Simpson; one daughter, Brenda Klaff; two sons, Denny Simpson, Danny Simpson, all of Finley; two brothers, David Burns (Vanessa) of Unionville, Bill Burns (Laura) of Dyersburg; six grandchildren, Chad Hawks, Chris Hawks, Cayce Klaff, Sara Meriweather, Julie Lovelady, Brandon Simpson; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Trevor Hawks, Ernest Lynn Ray, Chad Hawks, Ricky Jennings, Ken Hall, Brandon Simpson and Timmy Ray will serve as pallbearers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bubba Wayne Simpson; three sisters, Carolyn Barrett, Mary Martin, Shirley Ables; and three brothers, Paul Burns, Tommy Burns and Nicky Burns.
