Jane Hinson Cole, 78, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, July 13, 2023 at her residence. Born May 13, 1945, she is the daughter of the late Darrell and Dorothy Allison Hinson. Jane lived out her faith as an active member of Dyersburg First United Methodist Church, participating in bible studies and small groups throughout the years. She was a retired 2nd grade teacher for both the Memphis City School system and the Dyersburg City School system. After retiring she volunteered as a HOST tutor at Dyersburg Primary School and a mentor with Transitions of Dyer County. She had a love for tennis, golf, volleyball, cheerleading, the Memphis Grizzlies, and being the biggest fan on the sidelines for all her children and grandchildren.
She spent her days as an avid mystery book reader, crime show watcher, puzzle solver, and bridge player. Along with traveling around the country and world with her close friends and family.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 16, 2023 in the Sanctuary of Dyersburg First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Mary Beth Bernheisel. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 16th beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
Sam Bradshaw, Jerry Vaughn Cole, Jr., Dan Fowlkes, Paul Hart, Jeff Holt and Cole Shelton will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Kirk, Ralph Henson and Chris Young.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ronnie Cole; one daughter, Allison Cole Kreiger (Doug) of Pensacola, FL; one son, Brandon Cole (Alicia) of Murfreesboro; and six grandchildren Ashley Pugh, Jaden Pugh, Lane Pugh, Jacob Cole, Katherine Cole, Matthew Cole and her sister, Denise Hinson of Marietta, GA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Hinson.
The family requests memorials be directed to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
