Marie Eloise Hall Bishop, 74, Memphis, TN and formerly of Greenville, MS, died at St. Francis Hospital Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Eloise was born in Greenville, MS, December 22, 1945 to the late Lee Roy Hall Jr. and the late Edwina Floyd Hall. She loved spending the summers with her grandmother in Tallulah, LA at the boarding house she owned. She talked about spending hours listening to the stories the many characters told to her who stayed there. She also loved to tell the story of the pet fox she had, and the sad day that she went with her dad to turn it loose in the woods. Anyone who knew Eloise, knows that she had a lifelong love of animals. She came of age in the ‘60’s, and was a true flower child, and music lover. Her favorite musician of all time was Bob Dylan. As a young lady, she met and married Calvin Bishop formerly of Dyersburg, TN, and they lived in Memphis. She was an antique collector and appraiser, and owned and operated Rare Finds Antiques for years. As her friend John Grisham said when he signed a book on 12/22/1993, “To Eloise – world’s greatest antique dealer” and gave it to her on her birthday. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2020 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Bishop, M.D., her sister Patricia Thompson, her father Roy Hall Jr., and her mother Mazie Edwina Hall.
