Charles Price "Charlie" Whitnel

Charles Price “Charlie” Whitnel, 61, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, July 12, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family.  Born August 21, 1958, he is the son of the late Jane Shipman and Robert C. Whitnel, III.  Charlie was a member of Dyersburg First United Methodist Church.  He was a man of many talents including farming and construction. Charlie was a fun-loving man who never met a stranger and left the people that he was around with a smile.  He was kind to all who knew him and a volunteer to all in need. His laughter was infectious and will be carried in the hearts of those who were blessed to hear it.

Celebration of Life service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Dr. Mary Beth Bernheisel. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Because of the Covid19 pandemic, the family has requested that everyone please wear a mask and practice social distancing                                   

He is survived by three daughters, Jane Carolyn Whitnel McNamara and husband Ian of Franklin, Rebecca Whitnel of Dyersburg, Mary Whitnel of Murfreesboro; one son, Price Whitnel of Dyersburg; two sisters, Sally Whitnel Maddox and husband Max of Dyersburg, Mary Jane Whitnel Broussard of Knoxville; one step-daughter, Lara Burkhart and husband, Chad of Corpus Christi, TX ; four grandchildren, Robert Wight, Kayla Holder, Colin and Marian McNamara; and three step-grandchildren, Austin, Taylor and Elizabeth Burkhart.   

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Ozment Whitnel and stepson, Clay Moore.
