Barry Dewayne Childress, Sr.

Barry Dewayne Childress, Sr., 74, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, April 14, 2024 at his residence.   Born September 14, 1949, he is the son of the late Aubrey Thomas and Gola Marie Sorrell Childress.  He was a member of Dyersburg Church of the Nazarene.  Barry was an avid fisherman and hunter.                       

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Brother Hunter Grills officiating.  Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors Thursday beginning at 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.

He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Dilbeck (Fred) of Portage, IN; his son, Barry Childress, Jr. (Kelly) of Madison, AL; two sisters, Barbara Eve Arndt of Stephenville, TX, Marsha Kay Childress Brooks (Gary) of Salem, IN; one brother, Thomas Glenn Childress (Kenna) of Schererville, IN; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Ray Childress.
