Gail P. Lavalley, 63, of Newbern, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was a homemaker, an active member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, The Stephen Ministries, prison ministries in Brighton, Mich. and Tiptonville, building construction committee at St. Mary Magdalene in Brighton, Mich. and was a stained glass artiest. Services will be at noon Thursday at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Russell Harbaugh officiating. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her husband, James A. Lavalley of Newbern; a daughter, Susan M. Carolin and husband, Patrick, of Newbern; three sons, James A. Lavalley Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Brighton, Mich., Brian P. Lavalley and wife, Pam Gagmon, of Benton, Ky. and Michael J. Lavalley of Newbern; and 11 grandchildren, Audrey Lavalley, Samantha Lavalley, Elizabeth Gagnon, Alexandria Lavalley, Laurence Carolin, Jessica Davis, Rachael Davis, Joseph Carolin, Kaylee Lavalley, Brittany Lavalley and Ashleigh Gail Lavalley; five sisters-in-law and spouses, Janice and Dick Schweitzer of Georgetown, Ky., Judy and Tom Coryell of Mound City, Kan., JoyAnne and Justin St. James of Burton, Ohio, Jacqueline and Mark Daniels of London, Ky. and Jillaine and Dwayne Thomas of Madison, Ind.; four brothers-in-law and spouses, Jerome and Elizabeth Lavalley of Manchester, Vermont, Jonathan and Linda Lavalley of Georgetown, Ky., Jeffery and Barbara Lavalley of Barboursville, W. Va. and Joel and Jean Lavalley of Murfreesboro; and special friends, Richard T. Seman Sr. of Newbury, Ohio and John Madden of Omaha, Neb. She was preceded in death by her mother, Leona Mae Preson; and two sons, Mark Robert Lavalley and Todd Anthony Lavalley. Pallbearers will be Michael Lavalley, Jerome Lavalley, Jonathan Lavalley, Jeffery Lavalley, Joel Lavalley, John Madden and David Cohen. The family requests that any memorials be directed to the American Diabetic Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
