Addie Jane Burks, 97, of Dyersburg, TN died Tuesday, January 3, 2012. She attended Union University where she was a member of Chi Omega and the Enonian Literary Society. She was active in civic organizations, Good Earth Garden Club and as a member of the First Baptist Church of Dyersburg. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Raymond Boston and Reverend Mike Hickman. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, David Skoglund, Jamie Sloglund, Brad Burks, Billy Escue, Ty Agee and Taylor Burks. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Moore, Eddie Burks, Tom Hamer, Dayton Keller, Albert Fowlkes, Milton Magee, Johnny Gibson, Jim Hamilton, Harry Kaplan, King Rogers, Robert Rogers and Dr. Fred Moore. The Burks family will receive visitors from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Jane Skoglund and husband Roy of Roseburg, OR, three sons John T. Burks and wife Judy, Norman "Bucky" Burks and wife Patricia, both of Dyersburg, Bill Burks and wife Elva of Clarksville, TN, one brother Robert L. Hundley and wife Mary Ruth of Jackson, nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Burks.
