Mr. Richard "Red" Choate, 93, of Tiptonville, TN died Friday, December 21, 2012 at his residence in Tiptonville. He will celebrate his 71st wedding anniversary in heaven with his deceased wife, Georgia. They were married on December 21, 1941. He was born on November 1, 1919. He was a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, retired from Colonial Rubber, and a WWII Veteran. He received numerous medals and a purple heart. Visitation for Mr. Choate will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Choate will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Charles Southerland. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Obion. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Clayton and husband, Gary of Ridgely and Betty Southerland and husband, Charles of Union City; four sons, Thomas Choate of Hornbeak, Larry Choate and wife, Elvie of Ridgely, Johnny Choate and wife, Janice of Dyersburg, and Jimmy Choate and wife, Maudie of Keefe Community; 26 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, and his care giver, Sue Pope. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgie Shanklin Choate; 5 sisters, Evelyn Cole, Margaret Carnell, Dorothy Cole, Genevieve Walls, and Lydia Bray; two brothers, Claude Choate and Floyd Choate; his parents, George and Nancy Holder Choate; and one grandchild, one great-grandchild, and a daughter-in-law, Margaret.
