Ann Lowe Blurton, 90, of Dyersburg died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at her residence. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for 59 years, member of Outpost Sunday School class, chancel choir member for 40 years. She was past president of the United Methodist Women and also elected as the first City of Dyersburg Alderwoman. She was appointed to the Dyersburg Municipal Planning Board in 1997 and served many years. She was a retired real estate agent and broker until the age of 85. Mrs. Blurton was a past president of the Cotillion Club, a member of the McDowell Music Club, The Tennessee Federation of Music Clubs, the Good Earth Garden Club and the Community Concert Association. Funeral services for Mrs. Blurton will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church Sanctuary conducted by Dr. David Russell. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Phillip Lowe, Jim Goodwin, Tom Goodwin, J.R. McCay, Ricky Leow and John Thomas Pressler. The Blurton family will receive visitors Saturday, December 29th from 11:00 am until service time at the First United Methodist Church Chapel. She is survived by a daughter, Pat Goodwin of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas; a son, Murray W. Blurton Jr. of Tiptonville; two grandchildren, Tom Goodwin of Corpus Christi, TX and Sheryl Goodwin of Conroe, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband Murray Willard Blurton Sr., a brother Lawrence Lowe and her parents Lawrence and Lena Ward Lowe.
