Lyndell Laverne Shull House

August 5, 1925 — January 13, 2013

Lyndell Laverne Shull House, 87, of Ridgely, TN died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at The Bridge of Ridgely. She was a member of Ridgely First United Methodist Church and retired County Court Clerk of Lake County. The House family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the Ridgely First United Methodist Church. Services for Mrs. House will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Ridgely First United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Craig Myrick. Music will be by Dianne Riley Homra. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be John Riley, Pete Keiser, Will Keiser, Shawn Wortman, Ken Hickman, Brian Sherrill, Ed Sumara and Steve Parks. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert T. Shull, Dwight Shull, Dallas Bargery, Jerry Lynn Bargery, Paul Edward Bargery, Aaron Stalcup, Fred Wortman, Jr., Joe G. Riley, Jr., Brad Keiser, Skipper Homra, Farris McGinnis, Wilkes Moore and Mac Forrecter. Laverne was born to James Garland "Tobe" Shull and Annie Estelle Bargery Shull of the Hathway Community on August 5, 1925. She attended school at Hathway and Picksmill Community until 1938. She then attended Laura Kendall School and graduated from Ridgely High School in May 1943. After graduation she was employed by her father as Deputy Clark in the County Court Clerk's office on June 3, 1943. She served in this position for 27 years. When her father retired from office August 31, 1970 she was elected County Court Clerk and served as Clerk until August 31, 1982 when she retired. She served under five County judges: Honorable C.B. Rhodes, C.U. Cochran, Paul N. Algee, Richard Helton and Wilford Parks Jr. She was an active member of her church since 1939. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served on the Administrative Board. After retiring, she became church secretary and church treasurer. She was active with the American Cancer Society for several years. She is survived by one daughter Lyndell Ann (Lynne) House Patterson, son-in-law Larry S. Patterson, one beloved granddaughter, Garland Parker Patterson and other dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron A. House, her parents, a sister, Mary Martha Shull Phebus; and three brothers, Harry Alexander Shull, Nard Calvin Shull and Jerry Mac Shull.
