Lois Marie Conner Altman, 87, formerly of Tiptonville, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Providence Health Care in Palos Heights, IL. Lois was born to Homer L. Conner and Lille Morrow Conner August 16, 1925 in Hickman, KY. She attended grade school at Phillippy, TN and high school at Western High School at Sassafras Ridge, KY. Lois graduated from WHS in 1944. She married Gilbert Altman on August 16, 1944 and they made their home in Phillippy. Lois worked for the US Post Office at Phillippy and as secretary at the Lake County Board of Education. Lois continued to work when she and Gilbert moved to New Mexico as a tutor in the Deming, New Mexico Public Schools. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Friday, February 1, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Tiptonville, TN with Reverend Marita Burkeen conducting the services. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely, TN. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive friends Friday, February 1, 2013 - 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the church. Pallbearers will be Don Popp, Matthew Popp, Jack Haynes, Jr., Jim Harris, Dennis Buckelew, Rhett McIntosh, David Perkins and David Mooring. Lois is survived by her daughter, Cathy Altman Popp and son-in-law, Don of Palos Heights, IL; three beloved grandchildren: Stacey Stanfill Harris and husband Jim of Germantown, TN, Melissa Marie Popp of Palos Heights, IL, and Matthew Popp of Chicago, IL; and a beloved great-granddaughter, Emily Grace Harris of Germantown, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert in 1995 and her daughter, Linda in 2007 as well as her brother, Homer L. (Pete) Conner, Jr. in 1976.
