Joe Mack Wood, 81, of Dyersburg died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was the owner of Joe Wood Printing Company. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church, Charter member of Breakfast Rotary Club of Dyersburg where he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow, member and former Lt. Governor of the Dyersburg Civitan Club, former member of Dyersburg Jaycees, a booster sponsor and was very active in many fundraising activities where he cooked and served his famous fried potatoes and onions. He was a Korean War Veteran. The Wood family will receive friends Tuesday, January 21th from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Hickman officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson. Pallbearers will be Danny Lowery, Sam Hall, Dr. Bobby Cook, Jimmy McDivitt, Jeff Jones and John Byrd. Honorary pallbearers will be Dusty Smith, Sam Woodbury, Billie Stafford, Danny Fowlkes, Jack Claiborne, Joe Bradford, James "Bo" Patterson and Frank Agee. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Reba Wood of Dyersburg, his daughter Nancy Wood Huffaker and husband Tim of Huntsville, AL, his son David Wood and wife Lori of Dyersburg, his sister Lynn Hammonds of Honolulu, HI and six grandchildren Conner Huffaker, Kathryn Huffaker, Lauren Wood, Jordyn Wood, Kaitlyn Wood and Ryan Wood. He was preceded in death by a brother Harold Wood and his parents Irby Gray and Lessie Estelle Holland Wood.
