Lila Burton Reasons

Lila was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee on November 18, 1919 to Clyde and Bessie Burton. On November 8, 1937, Lila married James Alton Reasons, who preceeded her in death on September 3, 2009 after more than 72 years of marriage. Lila and James lived and farmed in western Dyer County, Tennessee. Lila moved to Kennett Square, Pennsylvania in late 2009 to be closer to family. She resided at Friends Home in Kennett Square. Lila is the mother of three sons: Kent of Kennett Square, PA; James A., Jr. (Jimmy),deceased; and Richard (Dick) Reasons, Des Moines, IA and their spouses Elaine Freeman, Martin TN, Judy Lee, Dyersburg TN, and Anne Leader, Signal Mt. TN. She is Grandmother to Kent's four sons: Scott ( Cindy), Greensboro, NC; Bryan (Carrie), Danville, CA.; Todd (Kerri), Horseheads, NY.; and Tyler (Renee), Garnet Valley, PA.; and Dick's children: Laura Elizabeth, Chicago, Il.; and Stuart (Jessica) Reasons, South Bend, IN.; great grandmother of eleven: Devin, Meghan, Katie, Kolby, Kevin, Lucas, Shane, Greyson, Kyle, Kayla and Kaitlyn; and sister to Dudley Burton (deceased), Glen Holt, Mary Francis Sorrell, Bob Burton, and Paula Moore. Lila's greatest pleasure was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; and traveling to visit them on any and every special possible occasion, and there were many of these as, Kent and Dick as well as the grandkids have all moved around the U.S. as well as other countries. In addition to traveling to see the children, James and Lila traveled extensively with the Tennessee Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service and the Rural Electrification Board where James served for many years. Lila enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, and cooking and for many years was an active member if the Finley Home Demonstration Club, where she gave of her time and talents through community outreach programs to support family development and enrichment. She was a member of the Richwoods Methodist Church and subsequently Finley United Methodist Church in Finley, Tennessee and attended First Baptist Church of Kennett Square, PA in recent years. Funeral arrangements are as follows: Pennsylvania Funeral - Saturday, March 8, 11:00 am, with visitation from 10, First Baptist Church, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Tennessee Funeral - Tuesday, March 11, 11:00 am, with visitation at 10, at Curry Funeral Home Chapel, Dyersburg, Tennessee, burial to follow Memorial Gardens, Dyersburg, Tennessee. Pallbearers will be Steve Moore, David Moore, Mike Burton, Kelley Sorrell, Rhett Burton, Ralph Holt, Nelda Sorrel Fowlkes and Judy Burton Gault. In lieu of floral gifts in memory of Lila, the family suggests the following organizations: - Finley United Methodist Church, Finley, TN 38024 - First Baptist Church, 415 West State St., Kennett Square, PA 19348 - The Rotary Club of Des Moines Foundation, 2700 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, IA 50321
