J.R. "John" Croskery, 84, of Dyersburg died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at The Highlands of Dyersburg. He was a Christian. He was instrumental in helping to organize the State Guard at Selmer, ministering to the homeless, active in the Hee Haw Productions at Bogota for over 30 years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, March 8, 2014 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Dr. Charlie Halliburton officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alan Sellers, Howard "Bo" Truett, Todd Smith, Tim Windle, Eric Maupin and "Bogie" Ricketts. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Bennett, Jeff Jones, Rommie Roberts, Dale Woods, Leo Thurmond and Tab Hawkins. The family will receive friends Friday, March 7th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife Jean Croskery of Dyersburg, his daughter Margaret Pickard and husband Steve of RoEllen, his son-in-law John Lomax of Dyersburg, two grandchildren Monica Robbins, Keith Lomax and one great-grandchild Emma Robbins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Curlee Croskery, his daughter Charlotte Lomax and his grandson Eric Lomax.
