November 27, 1923 — March 14, 2014

Mrs. Virginia S. Johnson, 90, of Dyersburg, died Friday, March 14, 2014 at Dyersburg Regional Hospital, Dyersburg, TN. She was a member and past Sunday School teacher at the First Christian Church of Dyersburg, a retired Certified Nurses Assistant with ProCare Home Health, and a former saleslady with Walkers Tots and Teens of Dyersburg, TN. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Turner officiating. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 - 2:45 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Curry Funeral Home. Survivors include two daughters: Jacqueline Parker Gabel and husband Charles, and Suzan Stephens all of Newbern; four grandchildren: Ricky Gaddy, Mary Tyree and fiancée William McDonald, Michelle Mathenia, and Justin Kimbrell all of Newbern, TN; four great-grandchildren: Jordan Mathenia, Jackson Mathenia both of Newbern, TN, Katie Kimbrell of Holcomb, MO, and Melody Kimbrell of Blytheville, AR; and one great-great-grandchild: Maci Ann Gee of Holcomb, MO. The family wishes to express a special thanks to caregiver Helen Moses for her faithful service to their mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Johnson, her mother Mrs. Eddie Simpson and one brother, Bryan Simpson, Jr. Pallbearers will be Jackson Mathenia, Jordan Mathenia, Justin Kimbrell, Ricky Gaddy, William McDonald, and James Murphy. The family requests that any memorials be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
