Tommy "Tom Cat" Burns, 62, of Finley, TN died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at his residence. He was an construction worker, farm laborer, avid marble collector, gardener and a Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. The greatest joy of his life, however, was his granddaughter "Nay Nay". Funeral services for Tommy will be Friday, July 18, 2014 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Brother Charlie Haliburton. The Burns family will receive visitors Thursday, July 17th from 5pm - 8pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Surviviors include his daughters Neioka Bell of Chicago, IL and Beth Odle of Dyersburg; two sisters Janie Simpson of Finley, TN and Shirley Ables of Dyersburg, TN; two brothers, Roy Burns of Dyersburg and David Burns of Halls; and four grandchildren, Hailey Neil and Alyssa Odle of Dyersburg, TN. Tommy was preceded in death by his wives Linda Whitlow Burns and Sherry St. John Burns; his parents Lillie Mae Parmenter Burns and Pollard Burns; three sisters, Mary Martin, Carolyn Barrett and Betty Ann Burns;and two brothers, Nicky Lynn Burns and Paul Burns.
