Dorothy Barrett, 88, of Newbern, died Friday, October 17, 2014 at Dyersburg Health and Rehabilitation. She was born May 28, 1926 to Webb Adam and Ollie Pope Moody. She was retired from Thomas Industry and member of Volunteer Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2014 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with interment to follow in Meacham Cemetery conducted by Reverend Carmon Dennison and Chaplain Travis Davison. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday, October 18th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Eric Hathcock, James Howard, Larry Ricketts, Donald Ricketts, Ryan Bradley, Trevor Howard, Zack Robertson and Scott Drew. She is survived by one daughter Carolyn Coder of Newbern; one son Everett W. Barrett of Newbern; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Everett Barrett, Sr.; two daughters Wanda Flowers, Delorise Barrett; five sisters Myrtle Ricketts, Margie Tipps, Birdie Thompson, Gladys Jarrett, Condy Pitts; six brothers George Moody, Melton Moody, Eugene Moody, Adam Moody, Cletus Moody, Johnny Moody, grandson Greg Pounders and great-grandson Drew Criswell.
