Winifred Waggoner Newsom

Winifred Waggoner Newsom, 83, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Dyersburg Manor. She was born August 29, 1931 to Mr. and Mrs. Norton Waggoner, both deceased. She was a member of Dyersburg First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter Carol Carpenter Gooch of Dyersburg; 3 step-daughters Jennifer Newsom Reed, Lea Newsom Scott, both of Dyersburg, Bret Newsom Brooks of Martin; 2 step-sons Bill Newsom, Jr. of Dyersburg, Jim Newsom of Morristown and their families; 1 granddaughter Sally Shaw and 2 great-grandchildren Chase Petty, Braedyn Buckner and numerous step-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Billy Newsom, Sr., her daughter Sally Fields Carpenter and her sister Carolyn Waggoner Anderson. Cremation services are under the direction of Curry Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, December 19, 2014 in the Chapel of the First United Methodist Church.
