Jesse Marcus Benthal, Sr., 68, of Dyersburg died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born October 9, 1946 to the late James Edison Verland Benthal, Sr. and Hazel Marie Lance Benthal. He was an active member of Holy Hills Baptist Church, a 47 year employee of Hexpol Compounding and an Army veteran. He was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 24, 2014 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Reverend Leonard Ballinger. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Mason Benthal, Harvey Prater, Chris Lussier, Richard Barrett, Tyler King and Taurean Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Campbell and Bill Thrasher. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 23rd from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife Tina A. Benthal; 2 sons Jesse Marcus Benthal, Jr. (Kim) of Dyersburg, James Ernest Benthal (Melissa) of Paris; 2 sisters Maxine Dorsey (Harrell) of Soperton, GA, Linda Brice (Sonny) of Friendship; 1 brother Edison Benthal (Linda) of Dyersburg; 1 step-daughter Jessica Barrett of Halls; 1 step-son Richard Barrett of Bells; 5 grandchildren David Goad, Paige Benthal, Jamie Benthal, Mason Benthal, Mackenzie Boxx and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Cynthia L. Benthal and 2 sisters Betty Jean Benthal and Lois Smith.
