Laverne Dowdy

Rosie Laverne Dowdy, 80, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was born July 27, 1934 to the late Ernest and Lucy Ramsey. She was retired from Dyersburg Fabrics and member of Phillips Street Church of Christ. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 15, 2015 conducted by Andy Brewer. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Wayne Dowdy, Larry Spiess, Brodie Cupples, Tracy Walker, Jeff Shultz, Patrick Cupples, Doug Medlin and Jeff Golson. Honorary pallbearer will be James Jones. Visitation will be Saturday, February 14th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. She is survived by her daughter Judy Martin (Chuck) of Dyersburg; 2 sons Johnny Dowdy (Jan) and Jerry Dowdy (Jessica) both of Dyersburg; 1 brother Connie McKee (Clarita) of Jackson; 4 grandchildren, Kelly Dowdy, Jeremy Dowdy, Brian Martin, Addyssyn Dowdy; 2 step-grandchildren, Sarah Garner, Wayne Sheppard and 5 great-grandchildren, Wayne Dowdy, Marshall Dowdy, Glenn Dowdy, Charlie Martin and Dru Martin. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Vester Dowdy; 2 sisters, Betty Neal, Ernestine Garrison and 1 brother Ralph McKee.
