James Malcolm Chism, 79, of Ridgely, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at his residence. He was born March 16, 1935 to the late James Houston and Cora Elizabeth Bargery. He was a member of the Ridgely Church of Christ. He was retired from the Lake County Utility District, a 20 year volunteer Fireman for the City of Ridgely, a member of the Ridgely Chamber of Commerce, a 12 gallon blood donor for the American Red Cross, an Army Veteran, a former Ridgely City Alderman and a former Lake County Commissioner. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Ridgely Church of Christ conducted by Jeremy Pierce. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Nick Eddlemon, Brandon Chism, Ben Eddlemon, Cody Chism, Brad Chism and Jacob Tittle. Visitation will be Sunday, February 22nd at the Ridgely Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Chism; 1 daughter Vickie Chism Eddlemon (Jimmy) of Nesbit, MS; 2 sons, Wyman Chism (Pam) of Ramer, TN, Mike Chism (Donna) of Hornbeak; 1 sister, Margaret Jo Chism Tittle (Eldon) of Ridgely, 9 grandchildren, Nick Eddlemon, Katie Eddlemon Pierce, Ben Eddlemon, Chad Chism, Cody Chism, Brad Chism, Laura Ann Chism Nanney, Brandon Chism, Jamie Morris and 16 great-grandchildren, Jaci, Jadyn and Brody Eddlemon, Azlyn and Aymish Pierce, Brylee and Hartlee Eddlemon, Jackson, Copeland, Braydon, and Berkleigh Chism, Drake, Laken, and Lainey Chism and Philip Scott and Anna Morris. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mackie Glen Chism; 2 brothers, Norman Lewis Chism, Sylvester Chism; his grandson Christopher Glen Chism; and 2 great-grandchildren, Caidyn Pierce and Jacob Scott.
