Mrs. Virginia Young Landsee, age 89, a resident of Guntersville, AL for the past 35 years, died peacefully February 24, 2015 at the Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis, TN. Mrs. Landsee was born in Dyersburg on February 5, 1926. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Miles Adams Young, lifelong residents of Dyer County. She attended Murray State College in Kentucky and graduated from St. Joseph School of Medical Technology in Memphis with a degree in Medical Technology. While working at St. Joseph Hospital, she met and married Dr. George Landsee. They had two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn L. Dear of Kansas and Mrs. Marilyn L. Dewease of Cordova. After working and teaching at the University of Tennessee Medical Units in Memphis for 20 years, she was supervisor of Hematology and Coagulation at Baptist Hospital before moving to Guntersville, AL. She was employed at Dr. Sara Martin's office for 15 years as Office Manager. She had taught Dr. Martin at the University of Tennessee Medical Units while Dr. Martin was studying for a masters Degree in Medical Technology. Mrs. Landsee was an avid sea shell collector and had a love of flowers and the outdoors. Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Monday, March 2, 2015 Graveside at Fairview Cemetery conducted by Reverend Gary Meade. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Monday, March 2nd from 1:00 - 2:30 pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Landsee is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn L. Dear of Kansas and Mrs. Marilyn L. Dewease of Cordova and 1 grandson Alexander E. Dear. The family requests memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
