Dennis Peckenpaugh, 67, of Finley, TN, died Thursday, June 18, 2015 at his residence. He was born July 21, 1947 to the late Egbert "Son" and LouElla "Sis" Peckenpaugh. He was a member of the Finley Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School director, song leader, and was on several church committees; a past Scoutmaster and an Eagle Scout; and, a member and President of the Lions Club. Dennis was a volunteer with the Finley Fire Department. He was a Dyer County Constable where he served as a Reserve Deputy at various times and a Navy veteran. He served president, secretary and treasurer of the Tennessee Constable Association. Dennis was selected as West Tennessee Constable of the Year in 2002. Funeral services for Mr. Peckenpaugh will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 20, 2015, in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Brother Charlie Halliburton and Brother Eddie Wilbanks. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Gary Perdue, Garon Perdue, Kenneth Ratliff, David Leedy, Don Sherrill, Mike Lepping, and Jerry Brock. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Moore, Andy Davis, Trey Sherrill, Nathan Moody, Noah Moody, Jaxon Perdue, Lucas Perdue, Jaxon Hollis, Alayna Leedy, Korbyn Butler, Ashton Goff, Hollie Goff and Savannah Sherrill. The family will receive friends Friday, June 19, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife Carole Peckenpaugh; one son Jared Peckenpaugh; two daughters, Lori Peckenpaugh Garner and Shari Cottrell (Barry) all of Newbern, TN; and, his brother David Peckenpaugh (Linda) of Dyersburg, TN. Dennis is survived by seven grandchildren: Phillip Jackson (Lindsey), Kayce Caldwell (Jeremy), Hannah Barclay, Kasi Austin (Steve), Shayne Binkley, Kelsea Koonce, and Jenna Koonce. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Mason Jackson, Cameron Jackson, Chase Jackson, Jackson Forsythe, Grady Forsythe, Neyland Caldwell, Ethan Austin, and Eli Austin. Dennis has one nephew: Brian Peckenpaugh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandchild Hailee Austin and a nephew, Davy Peckenpaugh.
