Billie G. Stafford, 84, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. Born July 17, 1931 to the late Wilmer and Lottie Godwin Stafford, he was a USDA Plant Protection and Quarantine Specialist and the manager of Calcutt Farms for 55 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Seller's Sunday School class and the Men's Choir. He was a charter member of Dyersburg Breakfast Rotary Club where he served as Treasurer and was named a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a red coat volunteer at the hospital, board member of Dyer County Literacy Program, a past-president of the Dyer County Fair Association, a past president of the UT Alumni Association and an Air Force veteran. Funeral services for Mr. Stafford will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church conducted by Reverend Dell King and Reverend Ed White. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Mark Hayes, Jim Houston, Joey Pritchett, Tony Deere, Gerald Brandon and Harvey Calcutt. Honorary pallbearers will be member of his coffee and lunch groups, Dusty Smith, Dr. Bobby Cook, Jimmy McDivitt, Frank Agee, Kyle Reynolds, Danny Fowlkes, Sam Woodbury and Harry Houston. The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice Stafford; one daughter, Janie Stafford of Dyersburg; two sons, Bubba Stafford of Dyersburg, Tommy Stafford (Yvette) of Roseland, VA; one siser, Kathy Gifford of Dyersburg; and three grandchildren, Lauren Parker of Dyersburg and Adam and Peyton Stafford of Roseland, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Jones and Virginia Baker.
