Reba Tate, 96, of Ridgely, died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at The Bridge in Ridgely. Born December 29, 1919 in Piggott, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Ivory and Hattie Box Helton. After the death of her mother, she was raised by Claude and Mamye Box Sims. She was a homemaker, a faithful Christian and member of Cottonwood Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Cottonwood Baptist Church conducted by her grandson, Ricky Burse and Reverend Paul Adams with music by her grandson and his wife, Steven and Wendy Tate. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Randy Burse, Kelly Bartlett, Stan Welch, Timothy Tate, Bryan Melton and Jordan Burse.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 22nd from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church.
She is survived by her 4 daughters, Delores Burse (Glen), Joyce Welch (Lynn), both of Dyersburg, Alice Cranford (Wayne) of Ridgely, Marsha Bartlett (Danny) of Martin; 2 sons, W.C. Tate(Wanda)of Kenton, TN; Ronnie Tate (Nancy) of Carrollton, TX; 2 sisters, Cathy Higgins of Kansas City, MO, Arlie Storer of Chicago, IL; 1 brother, Julius Helton of Senath, MO; 10 grandchildren, Ricky Burse, Pam Deming, Stan Welch, Randy Burse, Melissa Cranford, Timothy Tate, Angie Cursey, Steven Tate, Kelly Bartlett and Pam Tate; 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and a special niece, Peggy Robinson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Till Tate; her son, Michael “Punkin” Tate; 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
