Thomas "Tommy" Townson

Thomas “Tommy” Townson, 78, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at this residence.  Born January 24, 1938 in Dyer County, he was the son of the late William McKinley and Eula Bell Glozier Townson. He was retired from Dyersburg Fabrics.  He was a Navy veteran, Mason and an avid fisherman and hunter.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 2, 2016 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Brother Kenny Chessor with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.   

Pallbearers will be David Townson, James Townson, Jason Burns, Larry Anderson, Justin Walker and Jamie Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be Art McDonald and Danny James.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 2nd beginning at 11:00 am until service time                at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gladys Jean Overton Townson; 1 daughter, Tammy Boyd (Julius) of Jackson; 1 son Kenny Townson (Mary) of Dyersburg; 1 sister, Sue Roberson of Dyersburg; 4 grandchildren, JT Chandler, Gillis Chandler, Michelle Baker, Jordan Boyd and 3 great-grandchildren, Emma Chandler, Atticus Baker and Deliah Baker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Terry Lynn Chandler; 2 sisters, Martha Burns, Shirley Bennett and 1 brother Joe Townson.
