Cleo “Toby” Lay, 85, of Bogota, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Tennova Healthcare – Dyersburg Regional. Born August 30, 1930, he was the son of the late Dan and Myrtle Eaton Lay.
He was a prominent farmer in the Bogota community and a dedicated member of the Calvary Chapel Baptist Church. Toby loved sharing his farming experiences, especially with the younger generation.
Funeral services will be at the Calvary Chapel Baptist Church, Bogota, TN, Friday, April 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm with the Reverends Dennis Lemons and David Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery, Ridgely, TN.
Pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews.
The family of Mr. Lay will receive friends in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Friday, April 29, 2016, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Calvary Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bonnie Kemp Lay; his daughter, Susan Lay Dew and husband Ronnie of Dyersburg, TN; his brother, Daniel P. Lay and wife Ruby Lee of Bogota, TN; his twin sister Leo Fay Hunt of Jackson, TN; his grandson Tim Dew of Dyersburg, TN; and his brother Billy Lay of Lake Charles, LA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Jessie Lay, twins Pluto and Plato Lay, and J.D. Lay; his sisters: Bessie Walker, Dorothy Cantrell, and Cora Mae Roberson.
The family requests memorials be directed to the organization of the donor’s choice.
