Dorothy Wilson Miles, 89, of Dyersburg, died Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Highlands of Dyersburg. Born December 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Travis James Wilson and Bess Reeves Wilson. She was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Dyersburg, a Pink Lady at the Regional Hospital, and a charter member of the Dyer County Relay for Life.
Mrs. Miles was valedictorian of Dyersburg High School Class of 1944 and graduated from Southwestern College (Rhodes College) with a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in Spanish. She was inducted into the Dyersburg High School Hall of Fame. She taught Spanish for over 30 years and was affectionately known as “Senora”.
Graveside services will be conducted by Dr. Larry A. Blakeburn at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Boehmler, John Ford, John Frame, Steve Frame, Dr. David Guthrie, Wilson Miles III, John Palmer. Serving as honorary pallbearers are John Holden, Dr. Neil McKee, Earl Stevens, and Billy Taylor.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 2280 Parr Avenue, Dyersburg, TN.
She is survived by her sons Coleman Miles Jr. and wife Cam, and Travis Miles and wife Kristy;
a daughter, Matilda Frame and husband Steve. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Camille Rosier and husband Mark, Lara Newell and husband Trey, Wilson C. Miles III and wife Leigh Anne, John Frame, and Ashley Miles; and three great-grandchildren: Abigail Miles, Annabelle Miles, and Wilson C. Miles IV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Coleman Miles Sr.
