John "J.R." Wheeler

John Robert “J.R.” Wheeler, 80, of Central, TN, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was born July 13, 1935 to the late Johnny and Bethel Melissanne Moody Wheeler.  He was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church of Gibson County. He was a retired truck driver at Colonial Rubber.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Friday, July 8, 2016, in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted Mr. Rick Crawford with interment to follow in Mayfield Cemetery in Gibson County.

Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Hill, Bubba Harris, Bubba Wheeler, Homer Reed, Jeff Reed and Tommy Reed.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 7th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Curry Funeral Home.

He is survived by two daughters, Amy Presley and husband Donald from Central, TN, and Joyce Ann Hill of Dyersburg; one sister, Linda Reed of Finley; two grandchildren, Kevin Hill and wife Whitney of Newbern, TN and Emery Presley of Central, TN; and two great-grandchildren Kennedy Hill and Parker Hill from Newbern, TN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Johnnie Sue Childress Wheeler; one sister, Joanne Harris and three brothers, David Anthony Wheeler, Don Wheeler and Louis Wheeler.
