Mr. Norris Work, 85, of Tiptonville, died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Born May 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Price and Opal Work. He was a Lake County farmer and a construction worker who helped build the new 51 Highway from Union City to Dyersburg. His greatest quality, however, was his love for his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the First Baptist Church, Tiptonville conducted by Reverend John Troutman, with interment to follow in Tiptonville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Darren Strayhorn, Billy Paschall, River Paschall, Terry Jamison, Douglas Work, David McClain and Alvin Lanier. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jace Strayhorn, and Canaan Paschall.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 11, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Tiptonville.
He is survived by Frances Work, his wife of 66 years; his son, David Work and wife Sandra of Tiptonville; two grandchildren: Jennifer Work Paschall and husband Billy of Martin, Alison Strayhorn and husband Darren of Dyersburg; and seven great-grandchildren: Meaghen Strayhorn, Jace Strayhorn, Chloe Strayhorn, Katie Strayhorn, River Paschall, Canaan Paschall, and Sawyer Paschall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Norris Work, Jr.
