Sam McIntosh, 81, of Dyersburg, died Monday, October 31, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Born October 23, 1935, he was the son of the late Tom and Berta Crawford McIntosh. He was a retired purchasing manager at First Citizens National Bank, formerly with Digital Equipment Corporation for 25 years in Westfield, MA and a member of Ft. Hudson Baptist Church. Sam was a Korean Navy Veteran serving on the USS Wasp CV-18.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Don Layman and Reverend Phillip Senn with interment to follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be his Grandsons, Nicholas McIntosh, Christopher Kimball, Tyler McIntosh, Roy Lee Rainey, Simon Cook, Jeremiah Reed, Ethan Conley and Dylan Kimball. Honorary pallbearers will be his Granddaughters, Ashley McIntosh, Samantha Kimball, Jessica Copenhaver, Jessie Cook and Carrie Smart.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 1st from 5:00 – 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Betty Reed McIntosh; four daughters, Deborah McIntosh of Deland, FL, Theresa McIntosh Kimball of New Hartford, CT, Deidra Rainey (Ronnie) and Ann Cook (Louis), both of Dyersburg; three sons, Thomas McIntosh of Louisville, TN, Charles McIntosh of Debary, FL, David Reed (Vickie) of Dyersburg; two sisters, Leatha Reardon (Michael) of Olive Branch, MS, Brenda McPherson of Hurst, TX; one brother, Jerry McIntosh of Sebring, FL; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marion Farrow and one brother, Ewell “Sonny” McIntosh.
The family requests memorials be directed to the Children’s Church of Ft. Hudson Baptist Church, 2275 St. John Avenue Ext., Dyersburg, TN 38024.
