Herbert Ralph Strain, 93, of Tiptonville, died Monday, February 27, 2017 at his residence. Born January 27, 1924 to the late Rosco Herbert and Norene Gilliand Strain, he was a retired business owner of Strain’s Trading Post. He was a decorated WWII Veteran serving in the South Pacific.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Lakeview Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Joey Blankenship with interment to follow in New Haven Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Hicks, Jr., Derek Hicks, Jerry Strain, Jr., Hank Curvin, Zack Metoyer and Charles Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be W.C. Roberson, Gary Cantrell and Jimmy Gooch.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 1st from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 2nd beginning at 11:00 am until service time at the church.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Strain Hicks (Tommy) of Hornbeak; two sons, Kenny Strain (Teresa) of Lake Pamasoffkee, FL, Jerry Strain (Jane) of Paris; one sister, Joy Gardner of Ridgely; one brother, Billy Nathan Strain of Tiptonville; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Madgie Lois Cantrell Strain.
