Jo Ruth Smith, 87, of Ridgely, died Monday, March 20, 2017 at The Bridge in Ridgely. Born April 12, 1929 in Obion County, she was the daughter of the late Ulis and Lula Lemonds Ward. She was a retired machine operator and attended River of Life Church of God of Prophecy in Ridgely.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend David Prince and Reverend Joe Watson with interment to follow in New Haven Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Greg Prince, Ronnie Dean, Doug Worley, Steve Floyd, Dustin Markham, Shawn Franks and Cotton Brewer.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 21st from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Smith (Lexie Elaine) and Rayford Lee Smith; four sisters, Dorothy Dean, Joyce Floyd Smith, Brenda Prince, Barbara Heidel; two grandchildren, Randall Franks, Brian Ray Smith; and five great-grandchildren, Shawn Franks, Cheyenne Franks, Lynnlee Smith, Brian Luke Smith and Kayleigh Marie Patterson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. Smith; her grandson, Corey Lynn Smith; one sister, Peggy Watson and two brothers, Aaron Ward and Roy Ward.
The family requests memorials be directed to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, (in honor of Makahla Deason), P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38105.
