Barbara Jane Herder, 86, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Born April 17, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Chester Walker and Mintye Blanche Tickle Hendren. She was retired as part-time manager at Midway Truck Stop.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Church Grove Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Ronnie Turner with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pete Hicks, Lee Hicks, John Hicks, III, Ryan Hicks, Marty Lamb and Daniel Hicks will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 17th beginning at 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
She is survived by five sons, Jimmy Wayne Hicks (Linda), John Taylor Hicks, Jr. (Corinne), both of Finley, Eddie Lamar Hicks (Donna) of Dyersburg, Michael Gene Hicks of Jackson, Edmund Chester Herder (Sandra) of Ripley; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Geraldine Davis of Memphis; and Chester Walker Hendren, Jr. of Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John Taylor Hicks, Sr., Charles Edmund Herder; four sisters, Cecelia Hendren, Mable Prince, Thelma Burns, Katherine Troy; and three brothers, J.W. Hendren, Harold Hendren and Edward Hendren.
The family requests memorials be directed to the Community Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 1055, Dyersburg, TN 38025-1055.
