Athina "Tina" Marie Strait

Athina (Tina) Marie Strait, 58, of Dyersburg, died on February 15, 2018 at her residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.  She was born May 1,1959 in New York City to the late Demetrios and Angelina Costa Polihrom. 

Tina was a retired hair dresser and an active volunteer with the Salvation Army.  She and her husband, Chad enjoyed taking vacations to multiple places over the 26 years they were marred.  She made frequent trips to Louisville, Kentucky to visit her daughter and son-in-law.  She loved taking her granddaughters to McDonald’s on Sunday mornings for pancakes and playing.  She enjoyed baking with her oldest granddaughter, Marley and loved playing pretend with her youngest granddaughter, Laney.  She also would travel to her home town in up-state New York to visit her family. She enjoyed spending time at Cossayuna Lake, New York in the summers with her best friends, Valarie, Dorothy, Ruthie and John.  She enjoyed entertaining her group of friends, The Posse, at her home, loved their monthly cooking classes and their many girls trips.   

She is survived by her husband, Chad Strait; daughter, Jessica Freels (Matthew) of Louisville, KY; two granddaughters, Marley and Laney Freels; three sisters, Theresa Evans (Jeff) of Richwood, TX, Mary Lou Cameron of Hudson Falls, NY, Rosie Wheeler (Matthew) of Argyle, NY; one brother, Philip Polihrom (Ashley) of Richmond, VA; aunt Rosie Tello of Queens, NY; uncle Teddy (Nikki) Polihrom of Bronx, NY; mother-in-law, Eleanor Strait of Iuka, KS; sister-in-law, Lisa Petrowsky (Eddie) of Pratt, KS; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Jack Strait; mother-in-law, Marjorie Bennett; sister-in-law, Cindy Bennett Bain; and brother-in-law, David Cameron.

The family invites you to join them in a celebration of life will be held between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Curry Funeral Home.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Tina’s honor to the local Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1015, Dyersburg, TN  38025.
