Joyce Marie Evans

Joyce Marie Evans, 77, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, July 5, 2018 at her residence.   Born November 11, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Ivy and Rozell Kolwyck Childress.  After years as a homemaker, she joined her husband, Buddy, as a driver/owner/operator in trucking. They spent many many years together on the road.                                    

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Phillip Senn. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.                            

Nephews David Reed, Jeremiah Reed, Jimmy Childress, Jeff White, Bill McCanless and Brian Clark will serve as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 7th beginning at 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Earl W. “Buddy” Evans; two daughters, Janet Fox (Michael) of Cary, NC, Gina Jackson (Wayde) of Dyersburg; one son, Bud Evans (Monica) of Dyersburg; five grandchildren, Hunter Jackson (Andee), Jess Evans, Hannah Evans, Chance Evans and Levi Evans; two great-grandchildren, Chanie and Case Jackson; and five sisters, Betty Reed McIntosh, Peggy Leach (Benny), Sharon Reed (Homer), all of Dyersburg, Glenda White (Estel) of Lenox and Patricia McCanless (Ronnie) of Newbern.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Larry Childress, Ivy Gail Childress and her in-laws, Earl and Laverne Evans.
